Field Trips

Below are some field trips we've taken so far.

On  field trip we took was to the river in Gallatin County. LLW was founded by Chad Pregracke who turned one small boat full of trash into three large barges full of helpers all along the United States Rivers. On this trip we learned so much about our water ways and how much trash is really in them. While here we got the chance to help make our rivers beautiful again.

On October 12 all of the girls at iLEAD to a trip to the Yong Women's Leadership Conference in Louisville Kentucky. While there we learned about the beginnings of these amazing sandals and how they got started ( more information about Ssekos can be found here). amazing speakers told us important life tips such as; Plan but take action, how you perceive yourself is how others will see you, Give and don't forget, etc. This was also a great opportunity for us to practice our social skills and make new friends.

December 2nd Freshman took a fieldtrip to KU & LGE. While there we were taught what the power plant does for us and how. We also had the opportunity to tour the plant with an engineer of our choice. I chose to tour with a Civil engineer, he showed us exactly what they do In the plant. This fieldtrip also sparked an interest in me for mechanical engineering.

November 11th we took a fieldtrip to the Louisville Science Center to learn more about engineers and how science works in many different aspects of life. Robotics for example is used in just about anything and everything we do. While we were here we had the chance to interview engineers from different fields to see what their work days and experiences were like.

October 28th was a special day for all of iLEAD to attend the University of Kentucky to learn about the college and what they offer to their students. The school not only is a topped ranked school but also offers a large variety of majors. Although this school isn't for me personally it is a very prestigious school.

On February 24th a group of students took a trip up to Eastern Kentucky University to participate in the Regional T.S.A competition. I was among this group of students, while there we toured a small part of the campus. We met new people and , eventually, found the food court.
